While news of their separation has rocked us all to our cores,Kermit and Miss Piggy were very professional as part of their panel promoting their new show at the Television Critics Association press tour. And we can say, from within the room, the appearance was totally seamless — the duo looked at everyone who spoke to them, cracked jokes and sipped from cups.

The show takes place behind the scenes of the (tragically) fictional late night show, “Up Late with Miss Piggy.” Getting straight to the heart of the matter, Kermit confessed, “It can be tough to work with your ex.” He’s working as her executive producer.

When questioned about his personal life, he went on to say, “People change. So do frogs and pigs. We were together for a long long time. It’s personal. I don’t want to go into it too much. There will be an official statement released in the press.” Naturally, shortly after the panel, that statement appeared on his official Facebook page.

Personal matters aside (though he did admit he’s dating a new pig named Denise, who works in marketing at ABC), the show will feature regular celebrity guests, including Imagine Dragons and Reese Witherspoon, who Kermit informed us all “jumped” at the chance to be on the show. Writer and executive producer Bill Prady even suggested that the show might “get a camera into Piggy’s house and get her before she puts her makeup on,” a suggestion Miss Piggy did not seem to appreciate.

As to whether this show will alienate old fans or confuse new ones, Prady promised, “The goal here is to be exactly the same and completely different.” So all your old favorites will be there (we got a glimpse of the Swedish chef, as well as Miss Piggy calling Gonzo “Gary”), but shown through the new lens of the mockumentary format.
