If there is one thing you don’t think of when you think of gay porn, it’s women.

Women however are very much on the mind of Michael Lucas, the creator and CEO of Lucas Entertainment, one of the most popular producers of gay porn. Why?

He wants more women to watch his videos.

“Recently we looked through our members and realized there are so many women. I was surprised,” Lucas confessed. “I thought it was a rumor.”

Just how much of Lucas Entertainment’s audience is women?

“It’s about 8 percent. We’ve never marketed toward them really, so it’s a good number.” Lucas said. This explanation does hold a certain degree of water, especially when you consider how little Lucas Entertainment and gay porn in general has marketed itself to women.

The idea, however, of women watching gay porn is nothing new. Lucas himself referenced a scene from the 2010 film “The Kids are Alright” in which a lesbian couple watched gay porn during sex.

The Telegraph also explored why gay porn appeals to women about a year ago in an article titled “‘Watching two handsome guys? There’s nothing better.’ How women fell for gay porn.” The main crux of it all? Women simply enjoy watching “two handsome guys f—ing.”

But women don’t just watch any kind of gay porn. They have a very specific preference.

“Women like really cute and handsome men — not too much attitude, not too rough looking. They don’t really go for something like “bareback gang bang,” Lucas explained. “More like one and one, and softer stuff. Women go, I think, for what they can relate to.”

Lucas later brought out a brown paper bag full of porn and pulled out the titles that were the most popular with his female audience members: “Surrender to Love,” “Love and Devotion,” and “The Power of Love.”

The common theme was immediately evident.

Every single DVD, with covers showing two men passionately embracing could be mistaken for a romance novel. They all stood in stark contrast to other more hardcore videos like the film “Bareback Sex Fest,” the cover of which was essentially a pile of dog meat in a living room. The women in Lucas Entertainment’s audience certainly have a type.

“When you watch straight porn it’s so forced sometimes…[in gay porn] everyone is in control or rather everyone is relaxed about it.”

Lucas also added what women could learn from watching gay porn.

“In gay porn you start with kissing and you hopefully end with kissing.”
