Some states, like Vermont, have a reputation of breeding healthy, outdoorsy people. Others, like the entire Mid-West and most of the South, are the butt of many fat jokes. Just how true are the stereotypes? WalletHub released new data today of statistics from the Physical Activity Council revealing the states with the highest and lowest obesity levels.
Mississippi tops the list as the state with the most overweight people, followed by Louisiana, West Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina. On the other end of the spectrum, Hawaii has thel lowest rate of obsese people, followed by Colorodo, New Jersey (Enter your Chris Christie jokes here!) and Massachusetts.
