Corgis convene in Herald Square to celebrate Lifetime’s ‘Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance’

The world has been eagerly awaiting the royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for months — and that includes Corgis, Queen Elizabeth’s preferred breed of pooches, which took over Herald Square Tuesday afternoon in anticipation of the world premiere of Lifetime’s “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” on Sunday.

“Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” chronicles the courtship and love story of Prince Harry, played by Murray Fraser, and Markle, who is portrayed by Parisa Fitz-Henley.

Attendees of Tuesday’s “Royal Corgi Court” event were treated to the sights of a Corgi red carpet, a mini-Windsor-on-the-Hudson Castle playhouse for the pups and all the pomp one would expect from a royal wedding-themed event — including two stoic, fur hat-wearing human members of the Queen’s Guard.

But wait, there’s more! The Corgis had their own royal wedding as well, as the Corgi counterparts of Prince William, Duchess Catherine, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Queen Elizabeth were in attendance for the royal romance of the canine Prince Harry and Markle, who had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction as her jeweled tiara wouldn’t stay put.

“Royal Corgi Court” certainly was an adorable way to whet our appetites for Sunday’s premiere of “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance,” which airs at 8 p.m. on Lifetime, and for the real royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The much-watched couple will marry on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The nuptials will take place at noon, London time, or 7 a.m. ET, and you can expect it to dominate TV for much of the day, which, in our opinion, is totally deserving becuase how often do we get to see a true royal wedding?

The only question that remains is how many Corgis will be there to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle walk down the aisle for real.
