Emma Thompson, feminist queen and forever Professor Trelawney in my heart, is taking on body-shaming.
The 57-year-old actress appeared on Swedish talk show, "Skavlan,"and not so fondly recalled a time when her co-star was criticized for her weight. “There was a wonderful actress in a film I did called ‘Brideshead Revisited.’ The producer said to her, ‘Will you lose some weight?’ And she was absolutely exquisite!” She threatened to quit the film if the producer brought it up again. Get it, girl.
Thompson admitted that the problem of body-shaming is widespread in the industry, and that Hollywood’s insane body standards are to blame. “The anorexia — there’s so many kids, girls and boys now, and actresses who are very, very thin into their 30s, who simply don’t eat. Sometimes there are just some subjects that you absolutely have to make noise about because it’s so tedious and it’s gone on and on.” Preach, baby, preach!
Dear Dumbledore: May we be graced with Emma Thompson's presence forever and ever, amen.
