Details have been a little scarce about the new season of “American Horror Story,” but today at the Television Critics Association panel for the show, Ryan Murphy and company gave some brief summaries of who everyone is playing.
“I’m playing a male model named Tristan Duffy who’s sort of always looking for the next high and I think sort of finds the biggest high in Lady Gaga and we have a lot to do together. She sees all of me.”
“I’m playing Will Drake, fashion icon. He’s trying to creatively reestablish himself, so moves from NY to LA, is a father, and a little desperate.”
“I’m playing Liz Taylor, movie icon. And I’m not actually playing Elizabeth Taylor, but I’m playing a person who is impressed by the awesomeness of things like ‘Butterfield 8’ and ‘Cleopatra.’ I shaved my head for the part and…other body parts.”
“I play Alex Lowell and I play the wife of Wes Bentley and a mother and a doctor and am dealing with a great loss in our family.”
“I play Donovan who is a denizen of the Hotel Cortez, closely associated with Miss Gaga and Miss Bates and Mr. Whitrock, amongst others. He has very interesting relationships with the lady folk in his life, I’ll just leave it at that.”
“I’m a detective. I’m investigating some grisly murders, which somehow leads me to check into the hotel.”
“I have a strong, lasting relationship with Stefani’s character, so I’m sure I’ll be at odds with Donovan over who gets the girl. I’m also a fabulous actor.”
I run the hotel. I have relationship with Matt Bomer and with Wes and [to Sarah Paulsen] I can’t stand you, I hate you, and I don’t know yet if I get to work with Angela. Liz Taylor and I have a very close relationship. And I do crossword puzzles in my spare time.
“I play Sally. I live at the hotel. I hate Iris in a rather ancient way that is revealed quickly. I have a kind of budding something with Wes’ character. Sort of dark. Sorry, you don’t know this yet (to Chloe Sevigny).”
Ryan Murphy on Lady Gaga’s character
“Her character name is Elizabeth. She owns the hotel. She’s sort of a very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people and she has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode that plays out over the course of the season.”
And one bonus quote from Sarah Paulson about her character
“My character this year is quite dark. I think she’s sexy. She’s a drug addict. Not that drug addicts are sexy, but this girl happens to be quite sexy. Not because I’m sexy. I should just stop talking.”
