Live like Shakespeare’s Juliet in Verona, Italy this Valentine’s Day

For the first time, this Valentine’s Day, you can stay in Juliet’s House in Verona, Italy.

The Casa di Giulietta has inspired the world with its legendary balcony that reflects Shakespeare’s description in “Romeo & Juliet.” One winner and their partner will be chosen to spend the night in the epic 13th-century building.

Airbnb worked together with an Italian architect to modernize the beautiful building. The winning couple will get access to their own personal butler, and they will be treated to an extravagant candlelit dinner prepared for them by two Michelin star chef Giancarlo Perbellini. The dining room promises to be adorned with crystals, candles and flowers.

In addition to the dinner, the couple will get to experience a “Romeo & Juliet” inspired exploration of the city of Verona. They will get a private tour of the romantic home, and they will even get to read and reply to some of Juliet’s most recent love letters.

The couple will also get to spend a night in Juliet’s traditional bedroom, which will be transformed for the evening. The Airbnb still has the original bed used in Zeffirelli’s classic 1960s movie “Romeo and Juliet” as well.

This is the first time since the 1930’s that it will be transformed into a home.

“Juliet’s House is the most important museum in the City of Verona, attracting millions of visitors every year. Partnering with Airbnb brings the widely known Shakespearian myth of Romeo and Juliet to life in a way never before offered. We are excited to promote our cultural heritage, share traditions that were previously safeguarded, and bring international visibility to the City of Verona.” Federico Sboarina, Mayor of Verona Municipality, said in a release.

The spot is truly cherished worldwide.

Giacomo Trovato, General Manager for Italy at Airbnb, said in a release that, “Every day countless new connections are made across the world by people traveling on Airbnbcreating new friendships and sometimes new love. Since 2008, an estimated one million guests have hosted their weddings on Airbnb. This stay will give one couple the unique chance to celebrate their love in what is possibly the most romantic home in the history of literature.”

To enter the contest, eligible applicants need to pen a letter to Juliet, sharing their own love story and explaining why they and their partner would make a perfect choice. If you and your partner want to spend the night in the birthplace of romance, you can enter the contest on airbnb.com/juliet. The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. on February 2, 2020.

If you do not win to contest but want to embrace romance in Verona, Airbnb will be listing four Valentine’s day experiences you can book throughout the month.
