Who will replace Craig Carton at WFAN sports radio?

Who, Replace, Craig Carton, WFAN

WFAN host Craig Carton is likely headed to prison for a long period of time as details of an alleged fake ticket Ponzi scheme continue to emerge.

Carton’s career as a sports radio voice appears to be over, and now WFAN is scrambling to find his replacement. Carton’s co-host Boomer Esiason addressed the situation on WFAN Thursday morning.

“Maybe our point guard’s not here but we’re going to continue to do it and I’m going to bring my friends in here until we find a permanent replacement, if in fact that’s where this is going to take us,” Esiason said. “But I just want people to know out there that I love my partner for 10 years. I still love my partner. I love his family, I love his kids, and I am praying every single day that he lands on his feet.”

Here are some potential replacements for Carton.

Sid Rosenberg: Rosenberg is currently under contract to WABC radio. He discussed the matter on Don Imus’ radio show Thursday.

Phil Simms: Simms was Esiason’s co-host on Thursday.

Chris Russo: It would take a boatload of cash for the Mad Dog to return to the FAN as he is under contract with SiriusXM through 2019.

Marc Malusis: The Metro New York columnist has filled in admirably with Kim Jones on CBS Sports national radio when Carton and Esiason were on vacation.

Ryen Russillo: Russillo recently had his own troubles with the law, but the story is quickly fading away. With ESPN cutting talent on the radio side in recent years, Russillo could be lured to New York for the right number.
