After a musical hiatus following the success of 2013’s “Artpop,” Lady Gaga is now opening up about the emotional distress triggered by her rise to fame.

“I needed a moment to stabilize,” she told The Daily Mirror in an exclusive interview. “When my career took off, I don’t remember anything at all. It’s like I’m traumatized. I needed time to recalibrate my soul.”

The star has since been extremely public about her battle with depression and anxiety, which has prompted her to begin putting herself first: “I definitely look after my well- being,” Gaga explained.

After releasing her latest single “Perfect Illusion” last week – a small extract from her soon-to-come album– the singer is beginning to feel “good” about the direction of her life.

Even better, she’s excited to be putting her 20s behind her and is ready to embrace her 30s, which have presented fleeting moments of calmness.

“I find in my 30s, I haven’t actually calmed down. I calm down for periods of time and then I’m actually worse – I’m more wild for a short period of time. It’s a little bit of both. But 30 is fantastic because I feel like I have all the wisdom of my 20s.”
